Studio and Totton One-Act Drama Festival

Studio Theatre emerged as the big winner at the 2021 Totton Festival of Drama with four awards, including the trophy as overall winner of the competition.

The Festival, which had been postponed from its usual March slot because of the pandemic, took place at Hanger Farm Arts Centre in Totton in June.

Our production, Afterplay by Brian Friel, also scooped the best Director award for Lesley Bates and Rachel Fletcher was named Best Actress for her performance as Uncle Vanya’s niece Sonya. As well as the winner’s trophy, which Studio retains having won it at the festival last held two years ago, the production also took home the award for Technical Achievement.

George Goulding was nominated as Best Actor for his portrayal of Andrey, but was pipped to the post. Sue Tranter completed the cast as onstage prompt and soup server, and Theo Ross supplied the costumes, which were commended by adjudicator Alan Hayes.
