This year, in the Wiltshire Life Initiative celebrating excellence in the county, we were presented with an award in the Creative Arts Practitioner Section at a gala dinner and ceremony at the Marlborough Town Hall.

The photo shows committee members Jackie Pilkington, Peter Kelly and Peter Mitchell accepting the award from Rose Eva representing the sponsor, Fisherton Mill.

Also, at the annual Daily Echo Curtain Call Awards at the De Vere Grand Harbour Hotel in Southampton in 2012, Studio Theatre was presented with no less than four awards for our production of Hamlet:

  • Best Director – Lesley Bates;
  • Best Actor – Stewart Taylor;
  • Best Actress – Rachel Fletcher; and
  • Best Supporting Actor – Alistair Faulkner.

In addition, James Coughlan received Best Actor in a Comedy in Role Play by Alan Ayckbourn.

Hamlet then proceeded to win the final of the first ever Open Stages National Shakespeare competition run by the All England Theatre Festival and The Royal Shakespeare Company and was consequently performed on the new Swan stage at Stratford-upon-Avon.

In 2013 Studio picked up two Curtain Call Awards in Southampton:

  • Best Actress in a Shakespeare play – Emily Prince in Measure for Measure and
  • Best Set and Props for The Turn of the Screw by Ken Whitmore adapted from the story by Henry James.
