This fast and funny play is Ayckbourn at his best. If you liked How The Other Half Loves – you’ll love this.
It is some time in the future, and in daytime soap TV studios, live but temperamental actors have been replaced by ‘actoids’, programmed to perform any part and any emotion but with no emotions of their own. But then along comes JC, a female actoid who appears to have a sense of humour and a free spirit. Adam, a young and aspiring writer is bowled over by her talent and charm and is determined to write a comedy sitcom for her. Encouraged by a has-been film director, but battling against the bitch of a studio boss, comedy turns to farce as he and his protégé run away together to the big wide world of real life.
