In the autumn Studio Theatre and St Thomas’s Church Salisbury celebrated two important anniversaries. It’s 800 years since the founding of St Thomas’s, and 70 years of Studio Theatre. We marked these special dates with a joint production of Murder in the Cathedral by T S Eliot.
This is a powerfully dramatic portrayal of the murder of Archbishop Thomas Becket in Canterbury Cathedral by Knights dispatched from the court of Henry II after he is rumoured to have asked “Who will rid me of this troublesome priest?”
The production was staged in St Thomas’s beautiful church beneath its world-renowned medieval painting in which, as in the play, good and evil take their separate paths.
