On the eve of going down from their time at St Olde’s College Oxford Jack Chesney and Charley Wykeham both suffer from romantic letter writers block. With time rapidly running out, “I’m nervous and naggy and nonplussed” reports Jack, before their new found loves imminent departure to Scotland for the summer.
To add to their problems Charley’s Aunt, and only living relative, whom he has never met, has returned from Brazil and is expected soon to take him to lunch.
So that’s two love struck undergraduates Jack and Charley, and their mate Lord Fancourt Babberley, who is also in love. They are all aged about 22.
A Solicitor Stephen Spettigue, he is aged about 50ish.
Stephen’s Niece, Amy Spettigue and his Ward, Kitty Verdun, both aged about 19/20.
And back from Brazil, Donna Lucia D’Alvadorez, a lady of about 35/40.
